About Us

Experienced Piano Tuner and Piano Restorer in Ankeny, Iowa

Crowson Piano Service, A Family Business

I'm Carey Crowson. My wife Lana and I started Crowson Piano Service in 1974 with the goal of providing the absolute best piano services and the highest level of customer service possible. I've worked with numerous piano dealers, concert venues, schools and universities, piano teachers, and thousands of private piano owners over the years and have earned a great reputation as a highly qualified tuner and technician. I am a graduate of Yamaha Little Red School House and Yamaha Performance Seminar, both in Buena Park, California.
Lana is our business manager and scheduler. She possesses an extensive knowledge of pianos and of our business. She is also a critical part of the restoration team and is involved in nearly every aspect of the process from start to finish.
Our son Michael joined our business in 1996 and brings a new dimension to our refinishing and finish repair services. He is simply the best! His attention to detail and woodworking skills are second to none, making him the piano dealer's go-to guy. From lacquer to polyester, his repairs are virtually invisible. Michael is an invaluable member of our restoration team.

Gaining experience since 1974

Based in Ankeny, Iowa, we offer tuning, general maintenance, and finish repair services throughout central Iowa. We specialize in high-level restoration projects and have completed many all over the country, including numerous satisfied customers from California to Illinois and as far south as Texas. Some of our high-visibility restorations in Iowa are the Governor's Mansion carriage house, Living History Farms, and Hoyt Sherman auditorium as well as numerous churches and private residences.

Making the same old tune sound new again

We've been in the restoration business since the mid-‘70s, and we take great pride in bringing grandma's old upright as well as a concert grand Steinway back to its former glory. From 1860s-era vintage square pianos to uprights and grands, we will do as much or as little as you require. No job is too big or small, and we promise to treat your piano as if it's our own.
We are our harshest critics, and no piano is ever delivered back to you until it meets our quality standards. This allows us to guarantee complete satisfaction with our work by meeting (and even exceeding) your expectations every time.
We will be happy to archive your project and, upon request, will present a flash drive of progress photos with the finished piano.
